MSN Messenger, also known as Windows Live Messenger, is a classic messaging platform, and one of our non-Discord communications methods. This page will show you how to install and use MSN Messenger.

Creating an account

Go to kring.im and click "Sign up", and then follow the on-screen instructions.
Installation and configuration
Once you have created an account, click here to download the Windows Live Essentials installer. You will then be given a choice to either install all of the Windows Live Essentials programs, or to choose which ones you would like to install. Once you have made your choices, simply click "Install".
Once Windows Live Essentials has installed, go to kring.im/download, and then click "download the patcher", then run the patcher and click Patch. After this, simply open Windows Live Messenger and sign in.
Note: The email you use to sign in to Messenger will always be "(your username}@kring.im", NOT your actual email. Also, Messenger will ask you to enter a first and last name when you add a contact. This does not need to be your real name, and is basically just a relic of a time period when Microsoft was trying to persuade people to use real names instead of screen-names as Windows Live Messenger 2011 had introduced Facebook integration, which is now long-gone.
